Making of the United Kingdom

This time period, from around 1500 AD to 1750, is also known as the age of the Tudors and Stuarts. The United Kingdom was formed of England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.

The Tudor monarchs were:
Henry VII, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I, Elizabeth I
The Stuart monarchs were:
James I, Charles I, Charles II, James II, William III and Mary II, Anne.
They were followed by the Hanoverian monarchs.

It was a time of witches, wars, executions and diseases. Many people died horribly! There was a Civil War between the king and parliament. Many people disagreed about religion as well - Protestants and Catholics, Puritans and Church of England. Sometimes these arguments were violent like the Pilgrimage of Grace and the Gunpowder Plot, sometimes the people simply left the country, like the Pilgrim Fathers. London was burned to the ground in the Great Fire, which followed the Great Plague.
